When you see a major Chinese construction project put on hold - TopicsExpress

When you see a major Chinese construction project put on hold because animal activists protested when they found out that the project would destroy an important nesting area for swallows and you see a local villager stepped in to save a bird caught in a net, you know that there is a glimmer of hope for animals in China. China did adopt a wildlife protection law in 1988 that protects endangered species, but China has yet to adopt legislation recognizing the harms of animal cruelty. As part of a growing movement of animal activists in China, new legislation was introduced this year that would amend the 1988 law to recognize the broader concept of animal welfare within wildlife protection. This legislation would be a major milestone in the animal welfare movement in China, and presents us with an opportunity to let China know how important animal welfare is to the rest of the world. Please join our global rally on 2/19/2015 (https://facebook/events/403156529853688/), send an email to California Governor Brown (duoduoproject.org/blog/2014/11/take-action-contact-gov-jerry-brown-help-stop-dog-cat-meat-trade-china/), and if you know or belong to any wildlife organizations please tell them about our campaigns.
