When you sing certain songs for the first time or first few times, do you become tearful or cry, but are not sure “why”? This happens sometimes to me, when I sing in English songs from other nations and cultures. Recently, in preparation for a trip to Australia, where I shall be singing my one-man show (“Growing Up Larry – My Life in Story & Song”), I have learned some Aussie songs to include in this show and other concerts. The songs that have taken me into a state of deep and tearful feeling consist of “I Am Australian,” “Botany Bay,” and “I Still Call Australia Home” (https://youtube/watch?v=CHP9NuZNjbI, with singing by Hugh Jackman, Olivia Newton-John, Keith Urban, Russell Crowe, and Nicole Kidman).
