When you take up the practice of meditation, it is absolutely - TopicsExpress

When you take up the practice of meditation, it is absolutely necessary that you should be able to put your mind in poise. It should not be disturbed. But there are daily problems which have a tendency to disturb it. Something happens with your friends; something happens in the office; something happens with the people, the strangers, which disturbs you. And when you are meditating, the tormenting thought comes again and again and does not allow you to concentrate your mind. In fact, it sometimes happens that disturbing thoughts come more persistently during meditation than they come at other times. When this happens, what will you do? Drop off meditation. Let it stay outside and think your normal thoughts, stand up from the asana, take a book and read, because there is something in the mind at that time, something in the prana, in the nerves, that would make meditation at such a time unhealthy. Therefore, obey the signal from your body and your mind and do not meditate at that time. Do not worry that this would impede your progress in any way. It will not. Perhaps you know that sometimes we are in exhilarating moods, sometimes a little bit depressed. There is no reason for it. This depends on the purity and impurity in the prana. Science has no explanation for it. The fertile moods of the genius and their sterile moods, the moods of exaltation and depression of normal human beings, the reason why one day you are able to concentrate your mind much better than on another day, lies in the condition of prana. Therefore, do not be disturbed and stop the meditation. Get up, take a book and sit down. Pray for a few minutes. Let there be a flow of tears, and end it.
