When you think you cant take ONE MORE DAY of winter, try reading Laura Ingalls Wilders book The Long Winter. Just finished it up last night (for the millionth time lol) and imagine: 7 months of blizzards, snow piled up to second story windows, frigid temps outside with little food (and no idea when/if there will be more), hands raw and bleeding from constantly twisting hay into bricks because you have no wood for the stove, ice and snow piled on quilts upstairs as you sleep, days and days of no electricity, no toilet, no means of communication with the outside world (and they were in a town!) and no weather channel to let you know what to expect next. Well, a big shout out to our pioneer ancestors and a deeper appreciation for just how well we ACTUALLY have it during winter now, despite the irritations. GREAT little book!
