Whenever I encounter professors (whether known or not known), - TopicsExpress

Whenever I encounter professors (whether known or not known), distinguished people from the academe or even just my old teachers, I always have the habit of bowing my head while greeting them. This is one thing I learned from my former alma mater (JCA): the kowtow. Kowtow (叩头) is the act of deep respect shown by bowing so low as to have ones head touching the ground. I even clasp both of my hands in the process. Bowing myself to them signifies that they are higher (in all aspects) than me. :D And this kowtow principle has been re-introduced to us in our Japanese (Nihongo) 1 subject. :D
