Whenever I listen to Abida Parveen, her voice brings tears in my eyes. Not the tears of sorrow or joy but of the pure bliss that comes with music. It cannot be the genre because I never really enjoyed Nusrat Fateh Ali Khans singing (throw your bricks on me now) or heard any of the other Sufi legends. It cannot be the language because I do not understand the language (Urdu?). Coming to think of it, Im glad that I dont understand the language so Im not distracted with any thoughts or ideas or anything that words bring with it.
