Whenever I post stuff like this very candid insightful diatribe on the issue of racial equality, I lose FB friends and seem to nudge some folks out of their comfort zone.Perhaps some may think I should stay in my lane and let the politicians, talking heads and civil rights leaders take on these heady issues about racial inequality and that I should stay in my own artsy jazz lane.Well Im here to tell you friends as long as racism and racial inequality exist, it aint happening ! Ive been speaking out about injustice within our criminal justice system because too many well intentioned people have been ignoring hard cold facts; we still have a race problem in America! Irrespective of how many Blacks one sees in TV commercials, on athletic playing fields, as mayors and elected officials, or as CEOs and well paid professionals. There remains a serious race problem in America. One that is systemic and rears its ugly head more prominently within the administration of law enforcement and the entire criminal Justice system more so than perhaps any other agency entrusted with safe guarding our rights as citizens entitled to justice, equal protection and due process under the law uniformly throughout this great nation. The disparities between blacks and whites in health, educational, economic and criminal justice outcomes remain deep. Those of us whom are capable of illuminating those inequities have an obligation to shine light on these problems so public awareness may hopefully lead right thinking citizens to urge for fairness and equality in order that justice may be served equally.
