Whenever a non-religious news source ends up writing a front page - TopicsExpress

Whenever a non-religious news source ends up writing a front page article about a church I find it consistently interesting as to what points they decide to put emphasis on. Usually its something superficial, like the music style, the age of the congregants, or the modernness of the preacher. Very seldom is it because of the unwavering proclamation of Jesus as Lord. But, if we are honest, is this not how we evaluate churches, even in Christian circles? How many times have I described the church Ive been involved in as that one with great music or that large church down the road? As I have spent more and more time in a variety of Churches, I have slowly begun to realize that Christ is more glorified by a small, musically unorganized church that is known for holding high all that Jesus is than a large, rocking church thats as theologically deep as a parking lot puddle. Thats not to say that a large church or a musically skilled church is bad, but if thats all your church is known for, then there might be something wrong.
