Where I live the river surface used to freeze every year, so much so that people drove their horse-drawn wagons on top of the ice to homestead the area 140 years ago. Yet the most recent year the river froze was year 1977. The governor, who was recently re-elected, has stated the climate is not changing and that humans are not responsible (she is allowed to contradict herself because shes a Republican Party member). The pinyon pine trees in the area have not reproduced for 18 years because they have not gotten cold enough--- they need to freeze before they produce seeds. It still astounds me that more than half of the 114th Congress deny the problem exists.
