Where In the World is Carmen San Antonio??? Well, for the last - TopicsExpress

Where In the World is Carmen San Antonio??? Well, for the last 41 hours, I have been at one of San Antonios fine hospitals (17 of those hours in an Arctic-Clime Emergency Treatment Room, held hostage by the fact that the hospital had a backlog of beds, so folks admitted from ER had to wait hours before being transferred to hospital.) The brilliant, gutsy, loving guy I married 35 years ago had fallen at 1:45 Friday a.m. and had a tennis-ball-sized hematoma on his head. Scans showed no serious damage from the fall, but what the ER doc forgot to tell us (for 7 hours, till the new shift came in) was that ct scans revealed Hydrocephalus, & he was scheduled to be admitted to hospital. Finally got into a room Fri 8 pm, and preps began. Scheduled for surgery Monday. The HC means extra liquid in the brain causing loss of balance and loss of memory, and explains the very rapid changes he had been exhibiting. Good news is that brain surgery should be able to shunt off liquid and alleviate these symptoms. We are filled with optimism and an awareness of abundant blessings. God bless the caring doctors and the amazing nurses. He is in great discomfort and required to stay prone, but still brave and loving as always. Send prayers, and if you wish, messages, texts or email (no calls please.) Adelante!
