Where Netty Jetty Bridge stands today, there used to be a fishing village. Over a 100 years ago, four brothers lived there, the youngest one had no arms. One day the village heard the news of a giant crocodile attacking fishing boats and the brothera decided not to go fishing. A few days later the whole village was suffering from lack of food, so the three brothers took out the boat and went fishing. They didnt return. The villagers and youngest brother waited but it was three days since they went missing. Now, the youngest brother decided to go and find if the crocodile ate them. The villagers said how can an invalid like you can achieve that. After much argument and deliberation the brother had an idea. With villagers help, a wooden cage with spikes was created and a very long rope was tied to it. The brother sat in it and it was pushed into the water. He drifted for sometime and finally crocodile emerged to attack it. The jaws of the crocodile got stuck in the spikes and it uselessly thrashed. The movement of the rope alerted the villagers and they pulled the cage back along with the crocodile. They killed the crocodile and in its stomach they found the bodies of the three brothers. A separate graveyard was dug for these brothers where they rested and the last one joined them a few years later. When the bridge construction plan came up and bulldozers reached the place, the villagers vehemently fought and prevented the destruction of the graveyard. The altercation went on for sometime, then during the dead of the night the graves were swiftly bulldozed and construction of this bridge was commenced.
