Where are the speeches in modern British politics. We know they exist; but who are those speakers truly addressing, party members at conferences around the country, specific events in which they are accustomed. during the last 50 years and beyond, the Labour party prided itself on inspiring people to become part of its movement, to not simply follow the party on its ideology, but take an active role in its inner workings and to . Politics is seen by the three major parties as a formula and a business in of itself. That we in political parties are leaders and that the others are simply there to follow. You may ask why this is a topic we should discuss; In allowing people to treat politics as a topic above their own existence, yet it is not. The role of the Labour party is not to lead and inspire, that we are not another group with an idea about the world that is better than the others, but that we are here to free people from any form of demagogy whether benevolent or not to make them the arbiters of their own freedom in a collective society. This may be beyond the thought of many members of the party as of the present time, but it is the aim of socialism to instigate such a society. to call yourself a party of socialism or even social democracy requires this end goal to be paramount in its long term objectives, at the moment i struggle to think what progress would respond to such an idea. Our role is, and I make no bones about this statement, to show the population that they are stronger than the forces above them that subjugate them, that the only true way to alleviate the problems of both capitalism and human nature is to inspire people to become active in the protection of their rights from others who wish to exploit them.
