Where are the theologians: Dah-nu Mianyen, Allen Paye, Kenneth C. Jackson, J Oscar Dickerson, Barbay Gaye, Jasmine Judah and others? One of the seven words Jesus said on the cross, specifically the fifth, I am thirst, St. John 19:28, continues to receive various interpretations. There are those who interpret that Jesus was not referring to physical water because it was this same Jesus who promised the Samaritan lady everlasting water at the well (St. John 4:1-26). There are also those who argue that during Jesus earthly journey, He was one hundred percent man and one hundred percent God. Therefore, Jesus as one hundred percent man on the cross was actually thirsty and needed physical water to drink. What is the actual interpretation here, as we celebrate holy week?
