Where can you go on a sunny weekend to enjoy a tranquil Northwest - TopicsExpress

Where can you go on a sunny weekend to enjoy a tranquil Northwest Forest with pumping waterfalls and not see a soul? Check out Curtain and Angel Falls in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Make a day of it! Details of how to get there, a trail description and a map (which youll definitely want) are all in my new Day Hiking Mount Adams and Goat Rocks book. A two hour scenic drive from Seattle puts you on the green-so-much-it-hurts trail, which wanders through the Western Corydalis, Maidenhair Ferns, and Devils Club under a canopy of Big Leaf Maple and Douglas Firs. The whole time, you are serenaded by babbling Covel Creek, which playfully trips alongside the trail allowing for bonus unnamed waterfalls. The coolest feature of this hike? The backside of water! The trail actually goes under a cliff behind a Curtain Falls. But thats not its only charm. Pass underneath giant walls of stone showing off cave after cave. Last weekend we headed down to enjoy it again- the waterfalls are at their prime!
