Where did the time go It’s been sixty years since that first - TopicsExpress

Where did the time go It’s been sixty years since that first day of third grade you wore a blue dress that your mother had made. You caught my eye when I was picking my seat I knew you were someone I just had to meet. Your eyes were emerald green and your hair was bright red you reminded me of someone in a book I once read. With my best friend Bobby I tried to make a trade he had the chair next to you but he wanted to be paid. It cost me a quarter but I closed the deal he promised he wouldn’t tell and his lips he would seal. We became best of friends and played at recess I loved you back then I now must confess. We remained a couple throughout our days in school we stayed true to one another because that was the rule. We attended the same college because that was our plan and upon graduation I would ask for your hand. I found a job first before I spoke to your dad and rented a small house with the money I had. We started out our life as newlyweds and when we moved in together we sold one of our beds. Times back then were tough but all we needed was each other we built our marriage on love and were there for one another. A year went by then came the good news I caught you one day knitting a pair of baby shoes. This life that was promised wasn’t meant to be God called her home before our face she could see. We held tight to one another and our faith was strong we knew the Lord was in control and could do no wrong. This little child that we lost has a special place in our heart she made our love stronger and saved us from falling apart. We never know what lies ahead in this life that we live but with God at our side we have a whole lot to give. It was two years to the day when the twins came to this earth and now forty years later we still celebrate their birth. The spirit of our children has been placed in our soul we left things to God and let him take control. With our grandkids all gathered around at our feet we thank God for our blessings and our life is complete. Steve McKinney 08/31/2013
