Where does the 1/2% transfer fee go? We get asked this question daily. All transactions in the Riverfront Park neighborhood as well as the Union Station neighborhood are subject to a 1/2% transfer fee, payable to the Riverfront Park Community Foundation. The Foundation is a not-for-profit that acts as a conduit by distributing these proceeds to other not-for-profits throughout downtown Denver. This makes Riverfront Park an extraordinary neighbor to everyone downtown. Here are the recipients of grants totaling $228,300 for 2013: RIVERFRONT PARK COMMUNITY FOUNDATION 2013 GRANTS Total: $228,300 PlatteForum at Riverfront Park: Nonprofit that runs a national, award-winning arts program for underserved urban youth. Located at Riverfront Park. Colorado Succeeds: Support of the Colorado School Grades Program. Hope Center: Support of the Early Childhood Education Program. Project PAVE: Support of the Teen Dating Violence Prevention Program. University of Colorado Denver – Business School: Support of the Celebration of Success Fundraiser. Teach For America: Sponsors a teacher working in one of Colorado’s neediest schools, addressing the gap in our region and strengthens the commitment for educational opportunities for all. RedLine: Support of the EPIC Arts Program at Bruce Randolph, Whittier and Baker Schools. Denver Health Foundation: Support of the Downtown Denver School-Based Health Centers. Denver Bike Sharing: Support of the Denver Bike Sharing Program. Colorado UpLIFT: Building long-term, life-changing relationships with at-risk Denver kids. In 2012, served nearly 4,500 DPS students in 26 DPS schools through 179 weekly classes in character development, life skills, career preparation and leadership. Colorado Black Chamber: Yearly Membership Fee. Colorado Conservation Trust: Support of the Urban Fellowship Program. Commons Park/Railyard Dogs Park: Provides doggie bags for Commons Park and the Railyard Dogs Park Supplements dollars for additional landscaping at the entrance to Commons Park at the corner of Little Raven and 16th Street within Riverfront Park. Fresh Start: Supports the Sun Valley Sports Program, including the Rude Recreation Center Scholarship Program and the Summer BBQ and Sports Festival. Greenway Foundation: Support of the Platte River Sweeps Project. Kempe Foundation: Support of the Mental Health Clinic Programs. Metro Denver Lemonade Day!: Teaching responsibility and a “can do” attitude working through Metro Denver and Sun Valley families. Museum of Contemporary Art: Ensures access to the Museum to underserved Urban Denver Youth. We Don’t Waste: Operational support and to help procure a refrigerated van for distribution of food to the needy in Denver. Denver Center for the Performing Arts: Support of the Dramatic Learning, Student Matinee and Shakespeare for a New Generation Education. Programs serving kids at risk within a five mile radius from Riverfront Park. Platte Valley Model Railroad Club: Secure the future and availability of the Model Railroad and keep it open to the public.
