Where is the money going??? I have had a few people ask me about the cost of the event and how it all works. We decided to charge $20 per person for the event this year. Any profit made from the event will be split between the Rifle climbers coalition and the Access fund. The Coalition uses the money to purchase hardware for the canyon, as well as paying the costs associated with trying to open the lower half of the canyon (bird study, etc.) This year we have obviously put a little more into the event and with that comes some costs. prAna, our title sponsor, is coving a bunch of these for us. Children under 12 do not need to pay the fee, to keep it fair they will not receive an raffle ticket for free though. Anyone under 18 will need to have a waiver signed by a parent or gardian. What do you get for the $20? Camping in the canyon is usually $12 per night, we will be covering this cost for Friday and Saturday night. The town is going to allow us to get a little creative with the camping sites to fit more folks into the campground for the weekend. You will get one raffle ticket per person who participates ($5 value). If you have been paying attention to the prizes, we are collecting a ton of great stuff. We are going to buy hundreds of burgers and dogs. We will also buy a bunch of veggie burgers, soda, chips, water mellon, etc. the beer is being donated by Avery Brewing company. Entrance to the Chris Sharma presentation. Chris is going to to talk about the process of working on The Dura Dura, his hardest route to date. We are going to have two climbing clinics and one bolting clinic. I am going to post more information on these this week. Entrance to the competition, should be fun!! Shoe demos, yoga, swag, etc Let us know if you have any more questions and we will post an answer on the page.
