Where is your pride to your race? Are you so American now that you refuse to be Mexican? Typical questions I face with in a daily basis as a Mexican born American Citizen. My pride for my homeland is questioned in a daily basis because I prefer the beautiful symphonies of British and American music than of the polka sounds of cartel boasting, and romances gone Astray of my homeland. I am questioned because I am a Protestant believer instead of a worshiper of idols in Catholicism I am questioned because I prefer plaid, cardigans, and skinny jeans instead of wearing Cowboy hats, flannel shirts and Wrangler jeans. Even in the way I play soccer is apparently not Mexican because I rather score goals with precise organization instead of nutmegging players all around me. The fact that I am not fully mexican raises eyebrows especially my color of skin. All this does make me fall in the criteria of Mexican. But how can they question this so called Mexican pride when they are here in America pursuing a dream they cannot achieve at home as they confess they cannot comeback to their beloved nation? How can I feel a sense of belonging in a race if they brand me as a outsider when I was born in a place that they have never been to. How can I be prideful of a nation where its inhabititants are desperate to leave immediately. I am questioned ever so much by people who speak a different tongue that is not of their nations yet I speak their language better than those who place me below their standards. I know their history more than those are more nationalist than I, I know their values more than those who force it in my throat, and I know my roots better than those ask me to remember them. In the of day when I die this required pride will be meaningless ... Crap mind you. I am simply a Human. A beautiful creation of God. I am not Mexican. I am not American. I am not Spanish. I am not Italian. I am not French. I am not native. I am a Child of God nothing more. Nationist beliefs? Bite me.
