Where were you that morning on Sept. 11th? I was four days in to a new job at Witzenmann USA, I was at my desk going through paperwork when one of the Estimating Engineers came rushing into the office saying that the World Trade Center had just been hit. One of the girls who lived around the corner went home to grab a portable TV and she got back in time for us to watch the second plane strike the towers. It was with amazed disbelief that we sat there, seeing the second tower fall, then the first tower. Then we heard about the flight that went down and the Pentagon being hit. I also clearly remember the days afterwards. The hush that had fallen over everything. Not a jet contrail in the skies, one of the guys I worked with that happened to be over at the home office in Germany when this happened was stuck there for three weeks. I also remembered watching A-10s from Selfridge cruising low over the city. Some so low that you could easily make out their facemasks as they banked overhead. We need to always remember this. There is no time for forgiveness, there is no time to forget what was done to all those people, their families and us as a nation. So, where were you?
