The greatest economic power the world has ever known has been shown to be utterly dysfunctional, with one half of the political landscape an irrational, unreasonable, illogical, fact and science denying, nihilistic pack of buffoons and thugs hell-bent on destroying the very democracy they profess to love. They are so blinded by their hatred and resentment, their prejudices and dogged adherence to disproven economic theories and religious tropes that they are willing to crash the entire system around them, and they have dragged our once-proud nation into the mud along with them. Damn them forever for what they have done. History will surely judge them harshly, but that will be small comfort as we devolve into the 3rd world banana republic of their fevered dreams.
