Whether you pursue your dream or not, whether you achieve your set goals or not or whether you do what you are expected to do or not, the truth is, your age keeps advancing. However, your present age is never a barrier to setting goals; to dream or to do exploits. Do not let the devil deceive you. You never can tell whether the greatest exploit you will ever make is reserved for the remaining years of your life. There was a certain young man who had it very rough in life. One of his most treasured dreams was to become a doctor and to patent the discovery of the cure to a deadly disease. Unfortunately, his hopes were dashed when his parents died unexpectedly. At a point, he approached an elderly man who encouraged him to rekindle his hopes and pursue his childhood dreams. This is what he told the man; ‘by the time I become a medical doctor, I will be forty two years…. That will be too long!’ The old man asked him one simple question; ‘if you do not start your training now, how old will you be, seven years from now?’ The young man got his point. Seven years from that time, he would still be forty two years! But forty two years of nothing to write home about! If Abraham had refused to obey God’s instructions to leave his kindred even at the age of 75, he would still have attained the age 100 according to the scriptures; but it would be hundred years of suffering, struggles, irrelevance and of childlessness. Every goal and stage of your walk with God would normally take its toll on your strength, intellect and personality. So you’ve got to stretch yourself. No excuse is acceptable for not challenging and stretching yourself. There are many things that God has deposited inside of you that will not come into full manifestation until you stretch yourself. So, burn the mid-night candle now and stay awake if need be. Read extensively. Travel if it requires that. Curb your life excesses. God’s presence will abide with you.
