Whew, Im just leaving the Youth Speaks - Brave New Voices festival. For those of you that dont know, Brave New Voices (or BNV for short) is a huge youth poetry festival for writers between 13 and 19 years old. It brings together young poets from all around the country (and even a few international teams too!) to share and celebrate their work. I gotta say - it was one of the most beautiful celebrations of poetry and individual expression Ive seen in a very long time. I saw kids from all around the world supporting each other, writing amazing work, and trying to figure out what it means to be a human being together. I left breathless.
