Whew, what a busy August! My feet have hauled my carcass over 365 miles of varying terrain, including a long solo stretch on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), for my next project. If you havent heard, Im in the process of writing a section backpacking/hiking guide for Washingtons PCT, which will include trail descriptions, maps, camp and water locations, suggested itineraries, and photos like these. Its designed for folks who cant take 4-5 months off to hike the whole thing, but want to enjoy it in sections. The scenery in Washington State continues to leave my lower jaw agape with each corner I turn. Additionally, all of the hiking and generosity from friends and family has allowed me to achieve my Hike-a-Thon goal of raising over $3,000 for the 501c3 non-profit, Washington Trails Association...woot! Currently, my team, Misguided Authors, which includes author Craig Romano, and rock-star/former radio icon, Bob Rivers, is on the top of the leader boards! Our hope was to raise $10,000 for WTA, and weve now surpassed that ((insert arms in the air crazy boogie here)). Id like to give a shout out to everyone who has been generous enough to dig through their wallets and hearts. Charity abounds! Today and tomorrow are the last days of the challenge, so if anyone out there forgot to add some jangle to the pot- theres still time. Every little bit helps them keep our beautiful trails healthy and accessible and every single pledge is greatly appreciated. gifttool/athon/MyFundraisingPage?ID=1468&AID=2791&PID=449136 I hope everyone out there has been able to enjoy a fantastic summer! Its not over until the fat bird sings, (then heads south)...
