Which is cuter, the bird or the name: Grassquit? If you have been looking for an excuse not to cut the grass well, now you have it! Grass has seed for seedeaters if it is cropped down like a butch haircut! Here again, just yesterday I was looking at exactly that patch of grass and developing long-term strategies for improvements and maintenance with the gardens at La Esperanza. Most of the property is returning to forest passively, well, lets say with the active participation of a number of birds and mammals, aprt from the trees I am planting that have disappeared from the area. No exotics whatsoever are allowed in 95% of the property aside from what might be part of food production for the kitchens.
