Which one is a MWD and which one is a CWD? ANSWER: The CWD is on the left and the MWD is on the right. I am proud to introduce to you.....CWD Nero MDD and (Angel) MWD Chef H067 PEDD. Some of you guessed correctly because of the tattoo in the left ear of the MWD. All MWDs are tattooed in their left ear with a Letter and 3 numbers (i.e. H218). What does that tattoo mean? It identifies the MWD in the DoD program (sort of like humans and their SS numbers). The H, or P or whatever letter designates basically which Class the MWD was in. Most people can determine a MWDs age within a couple of years by that letter. The number is just that, the number of the dog. The lower the number, the earlier it entered the program for the H class. There might be 5 Aliks, but there is only 1 Alik H218. Yes....I am one of a kind. BOL! CWDs may or may not have a tattoo in their RIGHT ear but that is not the contractors identifying tattoo, it is usually a breeders tattoo. Carlos had a tattoo in his right ear. There is a variation that can occur though with CWDs. A few CWDs were tattooed in their left ear because the contractor provided dogs for a specific job with 1 Military Branch. Whew, Im tired.
