While I am all for a euthanasia list, I think the best thing for the animals of Lancaster County Animal Control without question is to allow a rescue group to take it over and become active on a daily/hourly basis. It is my understanding that this has been tossed around and may possibly come to fruition. This practice has been proven in other counties and can certainly make a huge difference in this county as well. This solution would allow and provide countless hours of help for these animals to be spent by volunteers requiring NO pay and no dollars from the county budget. Without the time for someone to provide lists, work with other rescues, provide spay/neuter solutions, spend time moving and placing these animals, nothing will drastically change our current status here in Lancaster. This rescue must be a rescue that has proven financial stability, one that has a business background to help facilitate change, and a rescue that has been active within the community and has the resources and volunteers to do this job the way it should be done. If you agree with me, please help me communicate this to our county council, Steve Willis, and other citizens of our county. It is time we step up and make changes for the sake of these unwanted, abandoned pets.
