While I am in support of improvements made to Medford High School, - TopicsExpress

While I am in support of improvements made to Medford High School, I believe we need to first look into the budget first to see where there areas of spending that make no sense or can be cut down and/or eliminated before we rush to put more debt on the backs of Medford residents. Here is the part of the article that concerns me most because it is extremely misleading: "At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, Mayor McGlynn asked the Council to amend the original loan order for the Science Labs to include an additional purpose of paying costs of storm drainage improvement in the Meetinghouse Brook area. The savings of $700,000 will go towards Phase II of the drainage project in and around the Brook area." Mayor McGlynn was NOT present at the City Council meeting last night and in close to 30 years as being the Mayor of Medford has only been present at City Council meetings very, very VERY seldomly. Now, it is not in our City Charter that the Mayor is required to be present but one of my key issues is to do just that if I am elected to the City Council because I WILL author a resolution that will require the Mayor to be present for at least one full City Council meeting per month under the regular schedule and if he chooses to ignore the requirement shall be fined and/or subject to a recall vote. medfordpublicschools.org/2013/09/science-lab-bids-under-budget/
