While I am not a huge fan of twitter and I see facebook as being fairly vapid, it is with great relief that I watch the value of the news networks being eroded by individuals on the ground. Good journalism is enlightening and informative. It is beautiful. But bad journalism is lead paint and mass produced journalism is a complete waste of time that people manage to reconcile as being valuable and informative six minutes before it is used to catch the shit from their pets. Were flying into it headlong and its been a long time coming, but a lot of the news networks are sliding into their new role. Which like radio, with the exception of a few hold outs, has otherwise slid into this weird angry sub culture that insulates itself and builds a world around insane, empty banter, speculation and rage. I look forward to print media dying. There is still a sense of authority around the printed page but thats being pissed away. And when a news outlet moves to a purely digital model and starts talking about terrorist bludgers, it suddenly becomes a lot harder to take them even remotely seriously. And the kids. Well the kids are growing up having to filter through this mountain of shit. The kids will be fine. Were going to be the issue.
