While I am not able to find links to these shows yet, here is some info/perspectives on the situation in Iraq that show how very complicated and tragic the situation is: I listened to This American Life Sat. 6/28/14 that had an Act II of producer Nancys calls to friends/colleagues in Iraq that she had worked with over the years. Searing and sad reports of staying indoors although the violence is quelled currently. Expectations that Iraq as it exists will disappear. Which is not what the people that spoke want. The producer made the comparison to Yugoslavia. People that grew up there no longer have a country. What are you if you call yourself a native of a country that no longer exists? Think about that for a moment, youre an American and there is no United States. Surreal, yes? Also today on GPS 6/29/14 with Fareed Zakaria: Zakaria gave some background info on Muqtada al-Sadr, the very violent Shiite leader that caused the worst days of killing after the U.S. went into Iraq, but helped get current Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki elected in Iraq. Al-Sadr is now calling for inclusion of moderate Sunni. Thats like the Tea Party calling for inclusion of moderate Dems, say GA Rep. John Barrow (GOP just designated $800,000 to beat his re election campaign.) What the heck is going on over there in Iraq?! Id love to believe that al-Sadr wants to see a united Iraq democracy, but I would question anyones sanity that thinks that.
