While I applaud Kate Middleton for not hiding her post baby belly a mere 24 hours after giving birth I am upset by the articles I have see that describe her as a positive role model for new moms and here is why: 1) I have never met a new mom who had perfect hair and wore heels when leaving the hospital. 2) when I had my girls I was ecstatic but I also had circles under my eyes and popped blood vessels all over my face. I did not look like a picture of glowing mom perfection 3) when you give birth it is painful and you bleed a lot (for a long time) therefore you wear ice packs and huge pads in your granny underwear. For me I pulled on a pair of yoga pants to keep it all together, not a custom made polka dot dress. Giving birth is an amazing and natural thing and even though I have been reading all the royal baby articles, I find it troublesome that we are continuing to create unrealistic expectations for women.
