While I did not get the vibe from a majority of members that they are dissatisfied with the present direction of DC4D, several did support and agree with my assertion that DC4D is a debating society, not an organization with the gumption and political will to recruit members in 5,6,7, and 8, debate the crucial issue of schools, and determine electoral outcomes. 44 people voted on the issue of who we should invite for the Council At Large debate. Few elections in this city are determined by 44 people. Right now, we are irrelevant. I propose that we begin holding some meetings by a separate 26 for Progressivism. (26 is 5 + 6 + 7 + 8) If Keith and Kesh want to support the views that the citizens of 5, 6, 7, and 8 come up with, then I will happily yield to their superior counsel for guidance. They know more than we do. If they, however, want to focus their efforts on DC becoming the 51st state between now and November, as it appears Nate Bennett-Fleming and Kesh want to do, I feel that its time to focus on winnable issues like schools, low-income housing, care for the homeless, and police brutality. Nationwide, those seem to be a few of the issues that matter. Perhaps if we can elect some candidates on those issues, well be able to influence people on the issue of Statehood and DC Vote in the next electoral cycle. As a theme song to the present direction of DC4D, I present the classic James Brown selection Talkin Loud and Sayin Nothing as performed by rock group Living Colour. bit.ly/1ozC
