While I do try to respect well-thought-out opinions on issues, I just cant put up with this not-voting nonsense. I understand the idea of not participating in a corrupt system, but nobody...NOBODY... has sold me on the idea of not using every possibly available lever of power to make either the more positive or the less negative choice we have before us. I also understand the argument that people who vote wont do anything else and so we are supposed to encourage people to do other things INSTEAD of voting. That idea is stupid. We should be encouraging people to do things IN ADDITION TO VOTING. I live sustainably. I grow my own food. I went solar. I got arrested 13 times in Occupy. I have worked soup kitchens. I was there convincing California lawmakers to call for an article 5 constitutional convention to get money out of politics. I am here constantly keeping my fellow citizens educated on the issues of the day. And I vote. And I disagree with anybody who willingly foregoes that responsibility no matter how flowery their reasons for doing so. Step up. Voting counts. Whether you like any of the choices before you or not, there are real world consequences to how elections turn out. One choice is always better than the other and it is your responsibility to pick that choice. Vote. Every time.
