While I lay here with a little ( ok a lot) insomnia I am reflective and thankful. This morning I left work and every family member of my patient and my patient hugged my neck with deep strength, love, and deep gratitude for our experience together. It brought tears to my eyes of what a fantastic job I have living in the very moment with another family for 12 hours. My experience with them meant as much, if not more, to me than it did to them. We change each others lives. We make such a difference in one anothers lives in times of fear, pain, and a need for great guidance. I, in turn, received as much endearing care and guidance from physicians this morning whom have a busy office FULL of patients to see, listen to, manage, and make important decisions that change their day, week, longterm care, and their life. I feel so grateful and have been left humbled at my blessings this morning. I was able to feel the same as my patient and her family did this morning as I left work when I left my dentists office. I have the great blessings of health insurance, a supportive loving spouse, excellent doctors, and the affordability for medication and medical care even if it at times piles up all at once. God provides. I do my very best to surround myself with great amazing people. Man, am I blessed. As I drove home after three doctor appointments this morning I saw a shirtless homeless elder man under the highway overpass trying to cool off. We all have a journey.
