While I love hearing new music, I also like to hear songs that have already impressed me, and Ill have a nice mix of the two this morning. From the past well enjoy The Indigo Girls great version of Joni Mitchells River, some Til Tuesday, Neil Young, Billy Idol, Rusted Root, The Clash, Augustana (currently on the road with our friends Scars On 45), Blues Traveler, Over the Rhine (playing The Music Box in The Flats Wednesday night- I hope theyre doing a Christmas show at The Kent Stage, too- it would hardly be Christmas without it), Crosby. Crosby, Stills & Nash, Kira Leyden Andrea and Connor OBrien with their beautiful take on Carol Of The Bells and Talking Heads The Lady Dont Mind. As for new songs, well hear the latest from TV On The Radio, U2, a brand new song from Ingrid Michaelson, Fitz & The Tantrums, Cage The Elephant, Chrissie Hynde, Red Wanting Blue and The Black Keys. In our Local Music Spotlight at 9:45 well hear the latest from Jessica Lea Mayfield, who will be playing what promises to be a great show Saturday night at The Kent Stage with her uber-talented brother David. Summit listeners first heard Jessica singing with her familys band when she was about eight. I had the privilege of meeting her just as she was about to transform from a cute, very shy teen to a confident, attractive young woman. (Touring with the Black Keys will help anyone mature in a hurry, Ill bet!) Heres a shot of my first Audio-Technica Studio C session with her, and two from her 2009 appearance at Bonnaroo, just a year or so later, as I recall. Oh yeah, well be giving tickets away for the show all day, starting in my show at 8:45. (Jessica- dont hate me for running that early picture. We all were kids at one time.) :)
