While I think its important for folk to take to the streets, get involved in direct action etc in solidarity with the occupation of Palestine, I think its just as important for folk to attend fund raising events that people are going to a lot of trouble to organize. I think its great that people are taking the time to put together such events for a range of projects in Palestine. Some of these events have been poorly attended which is quite sad. I attended two fund raisers this week and played at both, the audiences were small, but they responded brilliantly to the talks, to the songs and they were in great spirit. The event in Ardoyne in particular was poorly attended and I have to confess I felt quite embarrassed considering the spirit of resistance Ardoyne has been renowned for and considering the fact that I originate from there. Im not having a go, just saying it would be great if folk took the time to break from their usual routine, put off the cinema, or the pub for a night, or whatever it is you would normally do for an evening and attend these events instead. You will help make a great difference to the people of Palestine and itll do your heart the world of good to be among others who share your feelings about the ongoing massacre there. Solidarity is many things, it offers hope and comfort not only to those who are oppressed in far off lands, but to everyone who participates in it. It gives us strength in our unity and opens doors to many, many possibilities. Solidarity brings out the best in humanity. So please, if there is an event nearby to where you live, try and get to it. In solidarity through struggle
