While I usually believe that physical problems, like all problems - TopicsExpress

While I usually believe that physical problems, like all problems really, are best ignored, I finally gave way to my own curiosity and got a Thai massage. My knees and elbows were popping so loudly I almost dove for cover a few times. You know how we all thought we were getting in great shape during those years we spent in the infantry lugging packs and mortar plates around, and doing boot runs, and snow shoeing around Fort Drum and Norway? Well, we were actually just beating the shit out of our bodies. You dont realize till someone goes prodding and probing bout your battered body just how irresponsible you have been over the years-- crashing bikes, breaking ankles, sailing for days in rough seas, living in holes in Iraq, falling over drunk (or being knocked over). Imagine you installed wall to wall carpeting and accidentally put the rug in over a tack hammer or two. That is what my shoulder felt like to this poor woman tasked with making the hammer under the carpet go away. You can move it around a little but it is there, like the 71 El Camino you parked alongside your parents garage 20 years ago with the intention of fixing it up and being the coolest kid in high school. No more massages for me-- if I need to be reminded of my mistakes I will just go back and read the drunken Facebook messages I have sent to ex girlfriends. Cause like the permanent knots, scars, kinks, and contusions on our poor bodies, those too are saved forever.
