While I was in South Woods, I had a lot of interaction with a bunch of men who were Muslim. I gotta tell you, I am not sure I have seen a more faithful group of men as I saw in these guys. The prayers, the diets, the rites, the cleansing, Ramadan fasting, and 5 time a day praying to name a few. These guys were truly devout men. One problem, their messiah is still in his tomb. Mine is not. I used to ask them a question I heard Dr. David Jeremiah propose once. Dr. Jeremiah asked, “Suppose you were invited to go ice fishing. Would you rather have a lot of faith and have two inches of ice, or a little bit of faith and four feet of ice?” Most choose a lot of faith and 2 inches of ice. I would use Dr. Jeremiahs punch line to that response: “Remind me not to go ice fishing with you!” The point is a persons faith is only as good as the object in which that faith is placed. My Islamic friends in prison are skating on thin ice. Wisdom realizes that faith must be directed with knowledge and truth... quite simply, having the proper Biblical support. Having a LOT of faith in the wrong situation...directed towards the wrong object...is futile when it comes to the eternal ramifications. Our faith MUST be directed toward something sure and true, sturdy and strong, eternal and divine: our faith must be in Christ Jesus.
