While Im on the rant wagon heres another one. Mike Huckabee continues to go down in popularity in my book. His show tonight was discussing the militarization of police forces. He talked in a demeaning manner toward law enforcement as well as his guest saying that the police should not be able to receive funding or grants to purchase riot equipment or prior military used equipment. They should be protecting the citizens instead of theirselves. Seriously Mike how can you say this? The police, sheriffs, border patrols and state troopers are already out gunned and overpowered by the criminals before they leave the station. You also said SWAT teams needed to be controlled and they have too much power. And your guest speaker said they should only be allowed to come into a terrorist situation. I respectfully disagree with you Mike. I have a brother who has sworn to serve and protect. He puts on his uniform and badge everyday and leaves his wife and son not knowing if he will see them again. Earnest is covered in prayers daily from a wife, Paula Moody Furgeison a Mom, Mary Hughes Furgeison a Dad Sonny and myself his sister that he returns safe each day or night. Yes this is a risk of a law officers job. And To minimize that risk they have tools and equipment to protect theirselves so they in turn can protect us. How dare you say they are just power hungry. You are concerned about police being militarized but what about the war zones they have to work in? A perfect example is the out of control protesters currently in Ferguson Mo. I agree that one should be able to peacefully protest but seriously, looting and torching your own neighborhoods is inexcusable. So sending out officers with rubber bullets and bean bags is nothing short of stupid. I have friends that have family in law enforcement and some who have lost their family in the line of duty. I know they would agree with me Shaun Beck Moxcey Denise Hunter Olivia Thornhill Jones and Cheryl Kyle. So the next time you want to discuss heated topics on your show do your research and have creditable guests not just people giving their opinions that sensationalize the show. And think about your statements the next time you dial 911 for help. Rant completed
