While Ive been at times lukewarm about the first 2 Hobbit movies, I thought the final one was outstanding. Im surprised to see it getting such mixed reviews, which I think is maybe more a reflection of Peter Jackson fatigue. All the changes and additions he made to the book throughout the series paid off in a big way in the final film. In many ways, in fact, Id argue that his Hobbit trilogy is actually better, and more satisfying, than the book (which is poorly written and strangely plotted). Ill have to watch all three again at some point, but for the moment, Im glad Jackson made the return journey to Middle Earth.
