While Mr Strider traveled to New Zealand week before last I went to see our friends Lorree, Kevin, Jeremy and their dog Sasha in Lake Elmo, close to Minneapolis. I arrived after an three hours flight from San Francisco to Minneapolis airport and realised again how big this country is. On Saturday Kevin, with two of his friends, Jeremy, his friend and myself – a total four men and two women – participated in a yacht race on Lake Superior. It was rather cold early in the morning, but fortunately it got warmer during the day. While there was not much wind we still were able to do some good sailing and ended second in our class. The scenery was great with blue skies and all those magnificent autumn colours (or “Fall” for our American friends) that are so splendid in the USA. Every morning Kevin,Sasha the dog and myself went for a nice morning walk around the many beautiful lakes in the area and again admired the changing of the colours of the trees. During two days I explored St Pauls and Minnesota (together called the “Twin Cities”) and visited several beautiful old churches, museums with many interesting displays. There is a special toy museums that displayed many toys of the 50s, 60s and 70s, bringing back childhood memories. Also saw the Mississippi river for the first time! On Saturday morning before I was flew out again we all went to the famous Hells Kitchen in Minneapolis for an amazing breakfast. Many thanks, Kevin, Lorree and Jeremy for a fantastic week!
