While all the fun was going on with happy passengers visiting the man in the red coat the loco team were still working, out of sight, in the shed. Blanking plates were fitted to the boiler in place of the usual steam fittings and the boiler was completely filled with luke warm water. Once we had sorted out a couple of blanking plate leaks we were ready for a trial run of the hydraulic test which will take place before Christmas. The boiler was pumped up to one and a half times its operating pressure and no problems were encountered. Another important step forward has been achieved in our quest to get No. 7 back into steam in time for the spring.
