While attempting to ban what she believes to be a burqa, Palmer United Party Senator Jacqui Lambie has accidentally outlawed her own iconic yellow scarf. “Obviously this is an oversight,” said Senator Lambie. “I was trying to victimise Islamic women not myself. I thought that was clear. The last thing we want is for laws to apply to everyone equally.” Lambie went on to express distress at what this legislation will mean for her public image. “If I’m not constantly wearing a massive yellow scarf how will people know which party I’m in? Memory?!?” The legislation backfire has stunned the maverick senator. “Who would have thought a law attempting to repress people’s religious freedom while also dictating what women are allowed to wear on their own bodies could have gone wrong?” “I should have gone with my initial plan of blowing a literal dog whistle in parliament for a half hour.
