While attempting to digitize a vinyl record yesterday, I - TopicsExpress

While attempting to digitize a vinyl record yesterday, I encountered a problem I dont recall seeing before. This was an early Miles Davis recording so I wanted a good conversion but there were consistent problems that showed up as variations in pitch and audio quality. After some research, I found that the problems were caused by the center hole being located off-center. During play, the tonearm swung back and forth at least 1/4 inch! It should not swing if the hole is centered. A number of people are reporting this problem even with high-priced discs being made today. Now, if I can make flawed examples more valuable due to their rarity, Ill make a fortune- selling defective discs :) But there arent many, thankfully.
