While attending a number of different meetings of elected and unelected Vermont officials I have discovered that a majority of them all appear to share a common language with the same definitions. For example, state and federal grants=free money. These talking heads all seem to like to say things like We are all in this together and Lets do this collectively. These allegedly educated officials also regularly refer to the form of government in the United States as a Democracy. It is not. We live in a Republic. They passionately refer to consolidation as being synonymous with saving taxpayers money and improving outcomes. Of course what these parrots are speaking is absolute nonsense without any basis in the truth and without historical evidence. What is really frightening is that way to many people in the attendance seem to nod their heads approvingly and then applaud enthusiastically when the parrots are done speaking. I have yet to figure out if this is because they are being polite and simply grateful the noise has ended or they believe what is being told to them.
