While ballasting 75 feet of EZ track in my yard, I discovered that the manual switch sliders on the side of the track opposite the points are just wide enough to admit lots of ballast! I asked for suggestions both here & over at Model Railroader for covers but unfortunately didnt get a lot of help; and time was running short... So I took some ducts from the Walthers Wall Vents Cornerstone pack, as it was deep enough to accommodate the slider (even cut down) & cut them long enough to cover the slider path. I boxed in the ends with some Evergreen styrene, & when that was dry painted them a burnt umber with DecoArt acrylic craft paint. The bottom pic shows the prototype which I built in place. Ill probably hit them with some weathering powders at final touch-up. Mind, I have no idea what they might be; any suggestions?
