While being fully aware that correlation does not imply causation, this is an interesting reading of trends. The article references the US case (hey, it is the HuffPo after all), but the move away from union membership – driven by a combination of historical union over-reach and deliberate dismantling of labour regulation by successive monetarist right-leaning governments worldwide – is a significant factor in the decline of the power and economic well-being of the working and middle classes.
