While delivering food to TUDM for the volunteers, very often I hear the words civilians are priority. This was spoken from the lowest rank to the highest. And very often I could see the longing in their eyes although discipline was strong. The same happened with the soldiers and police we met in the outskirts of Kota Baharu. But it was always civilians first. So pardon me if I get abit agitated when I read of posts accusing our men and women in uniform of taking advantage of the situation. Of stealing the food meant for civilians. Of confiscating supplies meant for relief. Till today I have only seen with my own eyes the sacrifices they have made and the priority they have placed on their duty. We do a great disservice to these great people when we create and spread such lies. Many have toiled and continue to toil to make things better for us. Many have sacrificed the needs of their own families in order to fulfill their duty. And when we go home to the comfort of our homes, tired from our own tasks, they remain to soldier on. The least we can do is to respect them. Is that too much to ask?
