While having a casual conversation with the new managing editor on Friday, we were talking about how I got into journalism and my college career. I told him how it was originally just my minor, but I fell in love with it after taking a few classes. I talked about how one of my professors helped me decide to take the job in Shoshone County. When he heard me mention Rick Bragg, he said, What? Are you serious, you had Rick Bragg as a teacher? All Over But the Shoutin is one of my favorite books ... Im a little jealous. Im realizing more and more how lucky I was to be taught by such a fantastic writer. And it wasnt just Bragg, the University of Alabamas journalism school has an amazing faculty.
