While having my lunch today at Applebee’s with June…I started - TopicsExpress

While having my lunch today at Applebee’s with June…I started playing some George Jones’s Country Western favorites on my ipad… I Made the mistake of playing one of his hit songs “Walk Through This World With Me”…that started me on a swing though memory lane and how June and I walked through this world together back in the day… And as is usual with the cascading memories came the accompanying sad memories of June’s last years of Alzheimer’s… I have a special page on June’s website in honor of our anniversary and a page keyed into how June and I walked through this world together… June, You Walked Through This World With Me! Here are some of the comments as found on June’s website page… This 2013 Birthday tribute to June on her 86th Birthday is inspired by the title of the 1967 George Jones’s No. 1 hit song: “Walk Through This World with Me”. June was born on Tuesday, November 8th 1927…it was 23 years later that June and Stan first met…In May of 1951while Stan was home on leave from the Army …both had grown up during the great depression years as poor families on a farm… June wondered: “Will Stan walk through this world with me…” A little over a year later when they were married at age 24… June said…“We will walk through this world together! And walk through this world together they did…as Stan’s profession as a forensic consultant grew, he soon had cases from Fairbanks to Miami and traveled internationally to forensic conferences…while June as his administrative assistant could not be with him in active investigations or during testimony in trials, June did travel with Stan to over 100 forensic conferences here and abroad. June traveled with Stan as they criss-crossed the US from north to south and east to west…In Canada it was from Montreal, to Toronto to Vancouver…June was with Stan in eastern Europe in 1969 at the height of the “Cold War” to attend the first ever international forensic science conferences in the Soviet Union…from Warsaw to Moscow to Leningrad,…conferences in the United Kingdom… from Edinburgh to London to Oxford… London became June’s favorite city after many visits…middle and south Europe…Frankfurt, Gottingen, Dusseldorf, Zurich, Vienna, Budapest…then Rome, and an audience with Pope Paul VI…yes, June and Stan “Walked Through this World Together! --- On a sad day in January 1998, June was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s…June and Stan made their bucket list of all the things they had put off doing during their life together and in the next six years while June was still able, they did them all!… including a final goodbye visit to London during the Sherlock Holmes’s Festival… It was in the years seven and eight that June’s Alzheimer’s took control of her mind and their lives. I slowly lost June, tear drop by tear drop...June eventually slipped into a world of darkness where she could no longer be reached…God took June home on 23 October 2008. Stan continues to travel life’s journey alone in a world without June…a lonely world but a world filled with June’s Memories…there will never be another June… George Jones’s was also called home to Heaven on 26 April 2013...June was a Grand Ole Opry fan and a fan of most of the Country Western Legends like George Junes...I am sure June has walked in friendship with George in Heaven and if George is still singing the songs that made him famous here on earth, then June has heard George sing Walk Through This World With Me in person and up close...and I hope that June remembered how we walked this world together during our 56 years of marriage... Our good friend Marsha Ault from Texas wrote a poem about June and Stan’s walking this world together… Marsha after prayerful meditation, prefaces her poem with these introductory words: “I felt impressed to have June speak to you:” --- My Dear Stan As I walk in the warmth of paradise I reach through time for your hand with perfect faith. I know… You and I will be joined again. --- On that spring day when our eyes first met I wondered, “Will we walk this world together? Indeed we have— crisscrossing… the blue, blue sea and the faraway lands. --- Time has waltzed with us in every dream, every wish I ever had…to be a wife, a mother, and a grandmother too… All have been fulfilled in you, my dear Stan. --- When the darkness descended over my mind, and I began to slip away, I never once feared being alone or afraid. I knew… you’d never leave my side. --- The day you found the undelivered Valentine… with the printed words: “Hand in hand, side by side, soul to soul, heart to heart”… I wanted you to remember— You and I will be joined again!” --- For those who would like to hear George Jones rendition of his hit song… https://youtube/watch?v=rEj0juZshVI
