While idly browsing for something else I came across...Something I had forgotten that I had written and did not know till now that it was on a showband page.. Some years ago the Town Hall was being renovated and there was a lot of controversy with theatre companies as to what format they wanted to see in the new theatre .. The smaller groups wanted their own separate theatre..The musical society wanted the hall to stay as it was ..with nearly 700 seats.. In the end it came down to whether it would be better with or without raked seating . As the deadline was approaching and no decision was made ..,someone wrote into the local papers and openly asked for that decision to be made while locals had a say in it .. I followed that up with this letter...This letter sealed the fate of the seating .The only time anything I ever wrote to a newspaper was actually read and acted on.. irish-showbands/Stories/dundalkth.htm
